When I get to the race site what can I expect?

If you are preparing for your first race it would really help to go back and read the information in the Beginner's Guide as well.

Once you have parked your car you are ready to get yourself organized. Drop off your bike in the transition area (area marked off with fencing and banners) then procede to the registration area. At the registration area you will find these steps…please follow them in order. Each step will be marked with signage.

  1. ALPHABETICAL RACE NUMBER LIST: Each athlete looks up his or her race number from the alphabetical lists posted. If your name is highlighted or you are not on the list, please go directly to the "Inquiries Table".

  2. WAIVER: Each athlete must read and sign a waiver in order to race. The waiver is to be signed and given to the volunteer handing out race numbers. Please write your # on the waiver form before handing it in.

  3. RACE NUMBERS: Athlete lines up at a table and tells volunteer his or her race number. The volunteer will find the number and verify that the name is correct. Express card members must show Express card or photo ID.

  4. SWIM CAP: Each athlete participating in the triathlon picks up the swim cap corresponding to his or her wave and category.

  5. RACE KIT PICK UP: You will receive a bag, t-shirt and sponsor gifts (selected races)

  6. If at any point there is a problem, report to the "Inquiries Table". Janet will help you there.

Race Morning Instructions

Come Early - We cannot express this enough.  Registration is a time consuming process and race kit pick-up closes a half hour before each event. You will not be racing if you are not there early.

Stay Late - To be eligible for great draw prizes, you need to present.  Your race number is your 'ticket' - place it in the draw box at awards.

Once athletes complete Registration, they proceed to the Transition Area, where Body Marking and takes place and you also will pick up your timing chip. This will be located just outside the transition area (where you set up your bike).Athletes set-up their bike and transition supplies at the bike rack for their age group.

  1. BODY MARKING: Each athlete will have his or her race number marked on the right calf and the category letter marked on the left calf. Athletes in Kids of Steel and Try-a-Tri events will not be body marked.

  2. TRANSITION AREA: At the Transition Area, there is a section provided for each age and gender category, as indicated on the sign on the front of the bike rack. Athletes place all their race gear at their bike. This is the point of your personal transition during the race.

  3. TIMING AREAS: As athletes enter the Transition Area during the race, they run over a mat which will beep in accordance with their timing chips. You may practice running over the mat before the race to ensure that your timing chip functions. Please report any problems with the timing chips to Marc Roy at the Sportstats van. At the Finish line, each athlete's tag will be removed from his or her bib number and the timing chip will be collected. Athletes who misplace the timing chip will be charged .

Triathlon Instructions
     - All Athletes start the race in waves that are dependent on their category. Please see wave charts posted at Registration.

Duathlon Instructions

The larger number is to be worn by the runner. At the finish, the runner must maintain his or her position until the tear-off tab and timing chip have been removed.
