Niagara Sprint and Try-a-Tri

*Swim Update*

We are aware of the advisory on Nelles Beach from the Niagara Region website. In speaking with the region, the average of the samples they took are under the threshold to swim, however there was one individual sample that was over, which is why the beach has a swimming advisory. The beach is not closed.

The samples were taken on July 16th, following significant rainfall and can cause a spike in E.Coli readings. Conditions typically normalize within 48 hours after heavy rain. Our team has also taken additional, more recent samples for testing by a private company to ensure we had more accurate information and they are well within the allowed range to swim.

As of now, we are still planning to swim on Sunday. For those uncomfortable swimming, we will be offering a Duathlon (Run-Bike-Run) option for Try-A-Tri participants as well, which will consist of a 1km run, 10km bike, 2.5km, going off at 1:20pm. Athletes from either the Sprint or Try-A-Tri who wish to switch to a duathlon can do so on race morning at the Solutions tent.
